Dear Mr. Darrow,
This is Cadet Vicky Macias from Casa Roble JROTC.
I just wanted to start out by saying thank you so much
for taking time off your busy schedule to present an
award to me. I appreciate that a lot.
I also wanted to say I think it's way cool that you
raised your replacement for Principal (LOL) and I
think it's even cooler that your daughter, Ms. Lamora,
is a counselor here at Casa.
Thank you so much for serving our country and thank
you for presenting me with the Scottish Rite award.
Hope to see you again next year.
Sincerely, Vicky Macias

Clinic: We Get Letters!
The assistance we have received from Scottish Rite Speech
and Language Clinic has been very beneficial. For a number
of years, our daughter struggled with reading comprehension
and writing skills. Her difficulties in these areas also affected
her performance in math (word problems), social studies and
science. She began to develop a negative attitude towards
school in general. We invested a lot of money in a tutoring
program but were unable to continue this on a long term
basis. The tutoring that she has received at your center
has helped her improve in these areas, and has provided
support to her efforts in school.
We deeply value this program and how it complements our
efforts at home. Her instructor has worked very closely with
us and we appreciate how well she communicates with us and
coordinates her efforts with us and with our daughter’s school
teachers. We credit her with helping Katie to achieve success
in the 6th grade. Our daughter now has a more positive
attitude towards school and is prepared for success as she
transitions to junior high.
Thank you for providing such a wonderful program!

This fall I’m going into junior high, and I feel that Scottish
Rite has helped me significantly.
I’ve made improvement on my reading, vocabulary, spelling
and writing skills.
When I look at my past work I’m amazed at how much I’ve
learned. I have learned to use context clues and vocabulary
maps to help me understand my reading. I have also learned
the difference between short and long vowels, and how to
identify and fix run-ons and fragments in my writing. I like
Scottish Rite because I can be tutored, have fun, and it helps
me with my school work.

Ernest Borgnine to receive life achievement award from
Screen Actors Guild at age 93
NEW YORK (AP) _ Ernest Borgnine will be honored by the
Screen Actors Guild next year for lifetime achievement.
SAG National President Ken Howard said in a statement
Wednesday that Borgnine has boundless energy ``which, at
93, is still a hallmark of his remarkably busy life and
career.''
He has appeared in more than 200 movies. He won a
best-actor Oscar for his performance in the 1955 film
``Marty.'' His TV credits include the 1960s series
``McHale's Navy.'' He was nominated for an Emmy for his
guest role last year in the final episode of ``ER.''
He will receive the award for career achievement and
humanitarian accomplishment at the 17th annual SAG
Awards in Los Angeles on Jan. 30, 2011.
